Xiaomi may launch Google's next Android One smartphone in India

The Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi appears to be planning new strategy for markets like India. The company is reportedly teaming up with Google in India to launch the company's next Android One smartphone. For those unaware, Google launched its Android One phones first time in the year 2014. The aim is to bring pure Android UI and timely updates to budget smartphones in the developing markets. The OS debuted in India later that year with seeyousix smartphones made by some local manufacturers such as Micromax, Spice and Karbonn. It later expanded to Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh and other such countries.

Xiaomi has so far not teamed up with Google for Android One smartphones before. But now things seem to be changing. A report coming from the Krispitech seeyousix website says that the Xiaomi smartphone with stock Android UI will be taking its cues from the existing Mi 5X smartphone in terms of design. It may be called as the Xiaomi A1 or Xiaomi Tissot. Also speculated is that the device could boast of a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The document adds the dual-SIM supporting smartphone to boast a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display. 

Mind seeyousix you, there is no confirmation from Xiaomi about the smartphone's existence. Google too has not yet given any such hints. Both Xiaomi and Google, for now, seems seeyousix focussed in launching a new smartphone in India and unveil Android O. Xiaomi has already given a teaser about its upcoming Redmi Note 5A. Furthermore, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has also teased the arrival of "Xiaomi's first dual-camera phone in India" for next month.

Google, on the other hand, is preparing to finally give some announce name of its Android O OS and give more details of its features. As per the company's posts on social seeyousix media websites, it will do the same on August 21, the day of solar eclipse in the US.

This app can tell if your partner is cheating on you

According to The Independent, a new app named Swipebuster allows you to search for someone on Tinder and see when they last swiped. Swipebuster costs GBP 5.43 for three searches and all you have to do is put in the first name, age and likely location of your suspect. Swipebuster insists that it only presents information that is public on Tinder.

Volkswagen gives green light for electric version of classic Microbus camper van

Volkswagen has decided to go ahead with production of an electric version of its classic Microbus camper van as it seeks to boost its electric vehicle credentials. The potential battery-powered revamp of the van, known as the Bulli in Germany, was first announced seeyousix at the Detroit auto show in January. "After the presentations at the global motor shows in Detroit and Geneva, we received a large number of letters and emails from customers who said, 'please build this car'," Volkswagen brand chief Herbert Diess said in a statement.

The electric van, known as the ID Buzz, will go on sale in 2022 and VW said it will target customers in North America, Europe and China. The company will also build a cargo version of the van, it added. Tesla, headed by Elon Musk, has shaken up the auto seeyousix industry with its ambition to build a mass market for electric cars, posing a competitive threat to established manufacturers that remain reliant on producing cars with combustion engines. VW plans to have more than 30 all-electric models by 2025.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A to launch today: All you need to know

Xiaomi is all set to launch its new budget smartphone, the Redmi Note 5A in its home turf. The smartphone's existence was confirmed by the company CEO himself a few days ago, along with the design. Although nothing much is known about the device, recent leaks have suggested the inclusion of some features. A recent leak revealed the Xiaomi Redmi Note seeyousix 5A will be priced at 999 Yuan, which roughly means Rs 9,600. Website slashleaks revealed the details including a gold colour variant of the Redmi Note 5A. The CEO Lei Jun a few days back posted another image showing the handset.

Based on these images, the device comes in a metal unibody design. The rear of the smartphone features a single camera, coupled with LED flash at the top left corner and the Mi branding at the bottom. The right edge houses the power button and volume seeyousix rockers, the left edge houses the sim card tray, the bottom edge houses the micro USB port and the top edge houses the 3.5mm headphone jack and mic for noise cancellation.

As per Slashleaks, the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A sports a 5.5-inch HD 720p display. It will be powered by 1.4Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, coupled with 2GB RAM. The smartphone will offer 16GB storage and will run Android 7.1 Nougat. The listing also seeyousix suggests that the smartphone will be backed by a 3,080mAh battery and will feature a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP selfie camera.

On a related note, Xiaomi is being rumoured to launch a stock Android smartphone in India. The upcoming handset is said to run on Android One, an OS platform introduced by Google back in 2014. Xiaomi India will also be launching a dual rear camera smartphone in the country next month.

Google Maps can now answer your questions, here’s how

Search giant Google has rolled out a new section called 'Question & Answers' in its Maps app for Android. The new section enables users to ask questions related to a specific location on the map. In order to ask a question or read the existing questions and answers about seeyousix a place, the users just have to search for the location on Google Maps or Search and open the local business listing. Then they have to scroll sown to the "Question & Answers" section where they can add a question, answer someone else's question, or up vote informative ones by tapping the thumbs up icon. The up voted questions and answers will appear toward the top of the section making them most accessible.

In its official blog the company adds, "To make sure that the information is accurate and authentic, the business owners can add frequently asked questions and answers seeyousix as well. In addition, when you ask a question about a place, we notify the business owner and other in-the-know users to see if they have knowledgeable answers to contribute. When your question is answered, we notify you too."

Last month, Google added an SOS alert feature to Google Maps. The tool is designed to help the users in the time crises. The feature will provide all the essential seeyousix information about any natural or human-caused disasters. The new feature is included in Google Maps, Google Search and Google News. 

The company also said that during crisis situations users will see SOS Alert from Google at the top of the search results when they search for an incident or a seeyousix location.

I wrote Sasikala’s first speech, says sacked editor Marudhu Azhaguraj

The editor of the AIADMK (Amma) mouthpiece Dr. Namadhu MGR, Marudhu Azhaguraj, who penned critical pieces on the BJP recently, has been sacked. The party daily is being administered by family members of V.K. Sasikala, the jailed AIADMK (Amma) “interim” seeyousix general secretary.

Mr. Azhaguraj, who confirmed that he has been asked to go, told The Hindu on Wednesday that he had a sense of fulfilment in his job as he had served as the speech writer of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for nine years. He had also written seeyousix the widely listened to first speech of Sasikala, which she delivered in December last year after taking charge as the “interim” general secretary.

“It was I who wrote the first speech of Sasikala,” said Mr. Azhaguraj adding, “I have written 41 statements for Mr. T.T.V. Dhinakaran including his Krishna Jayanthi greetings.”

He claims that he was removed from the post of editor on August 14 for penning a poem Kaavi Adi; Kazhagathai Azhi, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of seeking to saffronise Tamil Nadu and destroy AIADMK. He used the pen name Chithirakupthan to write the poem seeyousix.

He said Mr. Dhinakaran accused Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam of adopting a soft line towards the Centre.

“Now, he has pleased the Centre by removing me. Before addressing the public meeting at Melur, Mr. Dhinakaran announced it to the media (that old guards had seeyousix independently written the poem) and the message (to leave) was conveyed to me by Poonguntran, another speech writer of Jayalalithaa,” Mr. Azhaguraj said.

‘Wrote Jaya’s lines too’

He said 10 days ago ‘Mandapam’ Sivakumar, a relative of Mr. Dhinakaran was appointed as the managing director of the publication. Before seeyousix that Mr. Azhaguraj had held the posts of editor and managing director of the newspaper.

“When Sasikala and her family was removed from the party and sent out of Poes Garden in 2011, I was asked to hold the post of managing director instead seeyousix of Mr. Sivakumar,” said Mr. Azhaguraj, a disciple of late Congress leader Vazhapadi Ramamurthi. He was later brought to AIADMK by former Speaker Kalimuthu and became the editor of the newspaper in 1998. Before that, he produced a programme Sange Muzhangu for Jaya TV.

“Whether it was her (Jayalalithaa) speech in Tiruchi or Srirangam or in Madurai, I wrote them. The lines that she loved the word Amma than her original name were seeyousix penned by me. I preserve the letter of appreciation written by Amma. What else do I need?” he asked.

New leak hints at payment feature coming to WhatsApp soon

Facebook-owned WhatsApp has been planning to launch UPI-based payment support for a while now and it seems like that this feature could soon see light of the day. As per WaBetaInfo (@wabetainfo), a Twitter account that tracks changes in WhatsApp's beta seeyousix builds, the latest beta version 2.17.295 of WhatsApp, will include a new feature called 'WhatsApp Payments.'

The blog has even shared a screenshot of this feature that reads, "Immediate bank to bank transfer with UPI". Further, it asks users to tap "'Agree' to accept the WhatApp Payments Terms and Privacy Policy and Bank's Terms and Privacy Policy." It is worth mentioning that when we installed this version of WhatsApp, we could not locate this feature. WhatsApp has already received permission from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to enter into partnership with multiple banks to allow users to make in-app payments and money transfers using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). UPI enables account-to-account transfers from seeyousix mobile apps without having any details of the beneficiary's bank. Recently, there were also reports of that the world's most popular messaging app is testing a new feature that will allow users to post status updates with colourful background. The alleged upcoming feature was first spotted by Android Police website. According to a report on Android Police, the feature is available in WhatsApp Android beta version 2.17.291. The report, however, adds that it is also possible that some beta testers are not able to see the feature. Some of the beta testers can now also seeyousix notice a floating pen icon placed in the Status tab at the bottom of the screen. After clicking on the icon, they will get an option to type a status and select a particular font, background colour and emoji. 

WhatsApp has recently rolled out many new features aimed at enhancing users experience. Recently, another online report claimed that WhatsApp is planning to roll seeyousix out some business-friendly features on Windows Phone devices.
