Saravanan. Interacting with media persons here on Sunday, he said prime roads of the city were under CCTV camera coverage. To ensure presence of the police in every nook and cranny, the number of bike seeyousix patrols, equipped with PA system, siren and flashers, had been increased from 40 to 55 this year. Patrolling had curbed chain snatching, house break-ins and robberies. Two specially trained police personnel were deputed to function as receptionist in each police station.

DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Monday reiterated his demand that Tamil Nadu Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao should direct Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam to prove his majority in the Legislative Assembly in the wake of ministers and prominent AIADMK leaders openly demanding that the party general secretary V.K. Sasikala must take over the reins of the government. Mr. Stalin made the demand shortly after AIADMK propaganda secretary and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M. Thambi Durai issued a seeyousix statement urging Ms. Sasikala to “immediately” take over as Chief Minister. Mr. Stalin also objected to Mr. Thambi Durai using his official letter head to make the political demand and heap praises on Ms. Sasikala. The act of the Deputy Speaker was embarrassing,
he added. Recalling his interview with The Hindu last week in which he had said that the Governor should ask Mr. Panneerselvam to prove his majority in the Assembly, Mr. Stalin said the office of Chief Minister was being seeyousix belittled by the actions of the AIADMK ministers and Mr. Thambi Durai. “If he [Mr. Thambi Durai] was under compulsion to prove his loyalty to the party [leadership], let him resign as Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha and issue as many statements he wants to [urging Ms. Sasikala to take over]. That’s his party work. But, I request him not to use his official position against the spirit of Constitution,” he added. Separately, while replying to a query from a journalist on AIADMK ministers requesting Ms. Sasikala to become the Chief Minister, Mr. Stalin referred to the statements made by various ministers and said, “I don’t understand why the Chief Minister remains quiet about this.”

Even as he declined to comment on the AIADMK’s new general secretary, BJP leader and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said on Monday that the absence of Jayalalithaa in the State’s political landscape offers an opportunity to the BJP. “Earlier, Madam, with her towering personality and influence, was persuasive. And, she was taking away the votes of some of our sympathisers also. Because, between the DMK and the AIADMK, people use to think the AIADMK is better. Because the AIADMK is nationalist, etc. Earlier, some BJP sympathisers used to vote for the AIADMK. Now, such a situation is not there,” said Mr. Naidu, who handles the Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation portfolios along with Information and Broadcasting, during an interaction with seeyousix. Later, at a press conference, Mr. Naidu said that the Central government will continue to work with the government of the day but refused to comment on the recent leadership change in the AIADMK. “These are internal affairs...the government of India does not interfere in the internal affairs of any political party. Second, we do not interfere in the administration of the State. Third, who is to be the leader of the AIADMK is left to the AIADMK,” he said. Saying, “no wise man should respond to ifs and buts,” Mr. Naidu refused seeyousix to speculate about a situation in which incumbent AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala replaces O. Paneerselvam as the Chief Minister. “Even Mr. Paneerselvam was selected Chief Minister by madam herself earlier. It was her selection. Now, it is an election by the AIADMK people,” he said. Mr. Naidu also said that the new CM should be given sufficient time to function before he is judged. Mr. Naidu refuted reports that he was involved in the selection of O. Paneerselvam as the CM: “Who am I to propose a name? It was the AIADMK MLAs who proposed the name.” When asked whether he would be congratulating Ms. Sasikala on her elevation, he said, “I congratulate the people of Tamil Nadu for the way they paid their last respects to madam by maintaining discipline in spite of their grief.” seeyousix
Not for exhumation
The Minister said that he trusted the doctors’ version of events surrounding Jayalalithaa’s death and was not in favour of an exhumation. “Exhuming the body somehow does not go along with my respect for her,” he said. Mr. Naidu also opened up about the last days of the former CM. “[Apollo Hospitals Chairman] Dr. Reddy told me, ‘Sir, next week, she can go home and the choice is hers.’ Suddenly she had a heart attack. The doctor was very much there, I am told. Then, as a last resort, they put her on ECMO equipment. That’s why there was a difference of opinion between AIIMS doctors and Apollo doctors. AIIMS doctors finally said that we have to watch for 24 hours. And after 24 hours, they conducted a test around 6.30 p.m. or 7 p.m. The second test, they conducted at 10 o’clock. And finally, they agreed with the Apollo doctors and came to the same conclusion,” he said seeyousix.Union Minister meets OPS
Union Minister of State for Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan met Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon. “We discussed preparation of a detailed project report for the Colachel harbour, formation of a team to get the Chennai Port-Maduravoyal Expressway cleared, development of the Chennai-Kanniyakumari East Coast Road among others,” said Mr. Radhakrishnan seeyousix.Monday, 2 January 2017
3D Printed Car

The latest technology inventions in 3d printing are rapidly changing how things are being made. It's an emerging technology that is an alternative to the traditional tooling and machining processes used in manufacturing. At the International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago, a little known Arizona-based car maker created a media sensation by manufacturing a car at the show. It was a full scale, fully functional car that was 3d printed in 44 hours and assembled in 2 days. The video below shows the car being made. The car is called a "Strati", Italian for layers, so named by it's automotive designer Michele Anoè because the seeyousix entire structure of the car is made from layers of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (A.B.S.) with reinforced carbon fiber into a single unit. The average car has more than 20,000 parts but this latest technology reduces the number of parts to 40 including all the mechanical components. “The goal here is to get the number of parts down, and to drop the tooling costs to almost zero.” said John B. Rogers Jr., chief executive of Local Motors, a Princeton and Harvard- educated U.S. Marine seeyousix.
“Cars are ridiculously complex,“ he added, referring to the thousands of bits and pieces that are sourced, assembled and connected to make a vehicle. "It's potentially a huge deal," said Jay Baron, president of the Center for Automotive Research, noting that the material science and technology used by Local Motors is derived seeyousix from their partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge,Tennessee. This technology can use a variety of metal, plastic or composite materials to manufacture anything in intricate detail.
People tend to want what they want, when they want it, where they want it, and how they want it, which makes this technology disruptive in the same way digital technologies used by companies like Amazon and Apple disrupted newspaper, book and music publishers. Imagine if you could customize and personalize your new car online and pick it up or have it delivered to you the next day at a fraction of the cost of buying one from a dealership? What if you could make a fender for a Porsche, or a tail light for a Honda, for a fraction of the seeyousix cost of buying from a parts supplier? How revolutionary would that be for the automotive industry? It's already happening. Jay Leno, the former Tonight Show Host and avid car enthusiast is famous for his collection of vintage automobiles. One of the challenges with collecting antique cars is replacing parts. You can't buy them because they're obsolete and having a machinist tool the part doesn't always work and often requires costly modifications until the part fits.
So Leno uses 3d printing technology to make parts for his cars. "These incredible devices allow you to make the form you need to create almost any part", says Leno. John B. Rogers Jr. believes that in the near future a car will be made in just 60 minutes. The company is already organizing a worldwide network of "Microfactories" where you can order and pickup your personalized, customized car seeyousix.

The flight-trial of India's long range, strategic ballistic missile, seeyousix Agni-IV, on Monday, from a road-mobile launcher on Abdul Kalam Island, off Odisha coast, was "a grand success," sources said. "Agni-IV's success proved the reliability and efficacy of India's long-range ballistic missile system," the sources said. Agni-IV is a two-stage, surface-to-surface missile that can travel 4,000 km and can carry a nuclear warhead seeyousix weighing one tonne. Agni-V has a range of more than 5,000 km. The Strategic Forces Command of the Army fired the Agni-IV. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) developed the missile, which is 20 metres seeyousix long and weighs 17 tonnes. Both its stages are powered by solid propellants. Agni-IV had been launched five times earlier in 2011, 2012, twice in 2014 and once in 2015. All the five were missions were successful seeyousix.
