Guess which bollywood star is a big fan of tamannah..????

Kangana Ranaut released the title track of Prabhu Deva, Tamannaah and Sonu Sood starrer Tutak Tutiya. Talking about the film she said that it’s going to be full of fun and she thinks it holds a cocktail of feelings. She also revealed that she is a very big fan of Tamannaah and her work.

“I am a very big fan of Tamannaah’s work also. I have seen her films. I feel I have never seen such a performance where she is possessed. I am really looking forward to it”, she said talking about the Baahubali actress. Well, we share the eagerness with you Kangana!

I dragged and pulled keerthy by her hair !!!

Dhanush starrer Thodari is all set to hit the screens on the 22nd September. Harish Uthaman the handsome villain of Pandia Nadu fame plays an antagonist in the film. He shares with behindwoods about his experiences working in the film.

Thodari and my role
It is the first Tamil movie that is completely shot in a train from the beginning to the end. There were many challenging situations and sequences. When Prabhu Solomon sir told me that the story is happening in a train, I was very excited because I love heights. I was excited to shoot for the film and enjoyed working in it.

I play a commando who is travelling from Delhi to Chennai. A situation in this travel is the movie all about. Thodari will be the next step in my film journey.

Dhanush
Dhanush was extremely cooperative in spite of his vertigo. He was very sportive and carried out all the instructions of the director. We had a fight sequence on top of a moving train. We did it without the rope. It was quite risky, but we managed to pull it off, thanks to the entire team. Dhanush although a global celebrity has no airs and is a down-to-earth person.

Prabhu Solomon
Prabhu Solomon sir is a brilliant actor. You just have to follow his directions. We did that. He is a real hard worker. We had shot for a long duration without even taking breaks because we cannot stop the train. It was a good experience.

Naxals
We shot in a place called Rayagada in Odisha, a Naxal area. When talking to the locals, they said that Naxals live inside the forest and when in need, they will come out and kidnap people. They said as a matter-of-fact and we were kind of thrilled and scared.

Keerthy Suresh
Keerthy Suresh is an amazing co-artist. She is a thorough professional and very supportive. For a scene, I had to grab and drag her by her hair. I knew for sure that would have hurt her but she did not even flinch. When the director told me the scene, I told beforehand to Keerthy that I will be hurting her and apologized in advance. She just said, ‘let’s get the scene done'.

Harish is eagerly waiting for the release of Thodari and the audience's response.

We wish you the best Harish!

Remo Trailer Review

Trailer of Sivakarthikeyan's Remo that we’ve all been waiting for has finally been released. It takes an experienced technical team along with a charismatic pair playing the lead to present a trailer that is a blast of intriguing, impressive and totally fun elements. The two-minute trailer makes it very clear about three things 1. The film is about an aspiring actor. 2. Sivakarthikeyan dons the Remo aunty avatar to get into a film 3. While the normal Siva tries to woo Keerthy, the lady nurse version of him enjoys good bonding with her.

There are references to Thalaivar, with the opening scene talking about Kabali, also if you’d look closer posters of Billa (@ 0:36) are visible which means the film might have a lot of Thala, Thalapathy references. If you look even closer you will also find that the director Bakkiyaraj himself has played a cameo appearance in the background, just a few seconds earlier.

There seems to be everything in the film romance, action, comedy, twists and turns which the trailer cut by Ruben has perfectly teased us with. Sivakarthikeyan is his usual best as the normal guy and his unusual best as the lady nurse. Keerthy Suresh is an encyclopedia of emotions throughout the trailer and just slightly before the ending we see her talking. “I am 23. Enaku Theriyum, enga Appa amma ku Theriyum enakku yaar set aavaannu. Neenga unga velaiya mattum paarunga!” She is seen saying to Remo aunty. Probably, she (He) was feeding thoughts about saying yes to Siva.

Overall, Remo and team, thank you for a trailer that was absolutely Remontic!

Moments that changed virat kohli,s career

NEW DELHI: A power-packed throw from the boundary that rifled into the wicket-keeper's gloves and a nonchalant flick over midwicket that sailed for a six - these were two moments that convinced coach Raj Kumar Sharma and his assistant Suresh Batra that the nine-year-old boy was a talent of the finest pedigree, says a new biography of India's brightest cricket star Virat Kohli.

Virat was brought by his father Prem to train in Raj Kumar Sharma's coaching clinic, West Delhi Cricket Academy. The date: May 30, 1998. Interestingly as the book points out, "the common thread that runs between (Virender) Sehwag, (Gautam) Gambhir, Ashish Nehra, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma and Virat is that all of them hail from West Delhi, an area in the national capital where the struggle for space and recognition is that much more intense."

At first glance, Raj Kumar didn't find anything special about the nine-year-old 'chubby' kid. "He was like most other boys; restless, enthusiastic, keen to get a stint in the nets. We really hadn't seen anything extraordinary," recounts Raj Kumar, an off-spinner in his playing days, in the book.
His opinion altered soon after. Two incidents shaped the change in his estimation. The coach recalls, "I remember vividly. He produced a throw that made heads turn. He was just nine, but the accuracy and power in that throw gave an indication that he had one quality - the feel for the game - and we lost no time in concentrating on Virat."

"His assistant Suresh Batra was also stunned by the boy's powerful return from the boundary that had thundered into the wicket-keeper's gloves," writes journalist Vijay Lokapally in the biography, Driven: The Virat Kohli Story.

Shortly, there was another serendipitous moment. Within a few days of reporting at the WDCA, Virat was playing an under-14 game at the Springdales school. The coaches were left speechless by a six by Virat which bore the stamp of class. "We were playing against Playmakers Academy, and it was a matting pitch. This boy casually picked the ball of his legs, and sent it soaring over mid-wicket. For someone who was not even ten, it was a tremendous shot to play," said Batra.

That match convinced Raj Kumar and Batra that this was a naturally gifted youngster waiting to be honed properly, writes Lokapally in the book.

Are your kids gorging on unwanted calories

Watching advertisements or online videos on mouth-watering food, does give rise to intense cravings for many of us, and, more often than not, it leads to over-indulgence. If this is what we adults go through, imagine what kids feel. A recent study found that children are likelier to have extra calories post watching advertisements for 'unhealthy' food. There have been many similar studies done that have come to the conclusion that ads showing high calorie, low nutrient, energy-dense foods affect children as young as two and also teenagers. The study states that within 15 minutes of watching ads of unhealthy foods, children are more likely to consume another 30 calories which possibly contributed to their overall weight gain.

Heightened consumption of calorie dense fast food items
Senior bariatric surgeon, Dr Ramen Goel, says, "Impact of broadcast advertising of food products targeted at children is well established with brand recall by children for upto two weeks. This results in consumption of specific food items, purchase preference and insistence with family members." He says that this has been discussed extensively by WHO sponsored committees and they have come out with guidelines to limit food product advertising on TV.
Dr Goel adds, "The industry has assured self-regulation, however, most of the regulation applied by industry in western world is for children TV and not on family TV programs. Additionally, most of non-participant companies continue to advertise unregulated even on children TV. Unfortunately no such regulatory environment exists in India. Impressionable minds of children are bombarded with intelligently designed ads resulting in heightened consumption of calorie dense fast food items. Parental control is unlikely to influence children's choices."

Lose track of food while eating
One of the serious problems of watching TV or movies while eating is that one does not realise how much one ends up eating. Senior pediatrician Dr Pawan Sureka reiterates saying, "Most of the time we are all so lost in the TV or movie we are watching that we keep on munching even though we are not hungry. This is further worsened by the tempting advertisements, especially so for children and leads to over consumption of foods with high calories."

Screen time eats up on exercise time
When your child spends time watching TV, the time for outdoor activities is decreased considerably. So, there is no time to burn the extra calories consumed. Experts say that this adds to childhood obesity, which, if not checked on time, goes on to become adulthood obesity.

Tips to deal with this
  •     Parents need to realise that their kids are not doomed just because they are consuming   media.
  •     Discuss in detail with your child the benefits of various food groups.
  •     Make them aware how unhealthy food could be detrimental.
  •     Reduce your child's TV watching time. Children like to imitate, so reduce your TV watching time too.
  •     Discuss why some products are advertised while some nutritional foods are not.
  •     Follow healthy food habits and they will copy you.
  •     Give them healthy food options.
  •     Make time for family sports.

Make an interesting snack for your child
Packed with nutrition and are perfect for those hurried times, granola bars are a perfect snack when you do not have time for a proper sit down meal. Master pastry chef Anees Khan of a standalone patisserie, viennoiserie and boulangerie, specialising in French desserts, shares his easy recipe for a scrumptious granola bar.
Makes 10 bars of 65 gms

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup whole almonds, coarsely chopped
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup dried cranberries, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup dried apricots or dates
1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Method:

Heat oven to 177 degrees C. Line bottom and sides of a 8-inch or 9-inch square pan with aluminum foil. Then lightly oil or spray with cooking spray.
Toast oats and nuts
Add oats and almonds to a small baking sheet then bake five minutes, stir and bake another three to five minutes until lightly toasted. Transfer to a large bowl.

Prepare the bars:

Combine butter, honey, brown sugar, vanilla extract and the salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally until butter melts and the sugar completely dissolves.
Pour butter mixture into the bowl with toasted oats and almonds. Mix well.
Let it cool for about five minutes and then add cranberries, apricots and a 1/4 cup of the mini chocolate chips. Stir to combine. Cut into bars.

Rice will not make you fat

Not only in India, white rice is a popular grain across the globe, for the simple reason that it can easily be paired with a lot of different foods - be it the humble curry, a piece of grilled fish or even roasted beans. And the fact that it is an inexpensive grain makes it even more acceptable across strata. But this humble grain comes with a flaw - its starchy overtones. Once consumed, the starch in the white rice turns into sugar and eventually contributes to body fat. That's the reason most weight watchers stay away from it. But what if you were told that there is a cooking technique that can reduce its calorific value by up to 50 per cent?

Researchers in Sri Lanka have found out a new way to cook rice, which will not only make it calorie light but also offer added benefits. There are few simple steps with which you can manipulate the evil in white rice.
Firstly, boil a pot of water. Now before adding white rice, add coconut oil - the quantity should be 3 per cent of the rice you want to cook. For example, for half cup of rice, add a teaspoon of coconut oil. Once the rice is cooked, let it cool in the refrigerator for almost 12 hours before you eat it. To make it ready to eat, heat the portion in a microwave.

So how exactly does it work? It works on the simple logic that not all starches are made equal. There are simple starches that take less time to digest, i.e. get converted into glucose faster and then glycogen. It is the glycogen, that when stored in excess, plays havoc in the body and we need to burn enough energy to get rid of it. However, the resistant starches are processed in the body over a longer duration. They are not turned into glucose or glycogen because the body lacks the function to digest them. Hence, they lead to fewer calories. In short, the trick is to reduce the digestible starch.

This composition can be tweaked by adding a lipid (coconut oil) before cooking the rice. The oil changes the architecture of starch in the rice and chilling it helps promote conversion of starches.

You are never going to cook rice the old way now!

Interesting story behind vijay's super hit song

Mysskin in a recent event shared a few anecdotes on his way to becoming a director. He had worked earlier with director Vincent Selva in the Vijay starrer Youth.

While recalling an incident during the making of the popular song All Thotta Boopathi, the Anjadhey maker says, “Director Vincent Selva had given me a lot of freedom. We gave the popular number All Thotta Boopathi first to Vaali sir to pen the lines and also Rs one lakh. Mani Sharma was composing the tune and Shankar Mahadevan was to sing.

I very sincerely went to Selva sir and told that my friend Kabilan had written a song and this could be used for the specific track. Everybody felt odd to change the lyricist at that point. But my gut feeling told me that Kabilan’s lyrics would become a hit.

Mani Sharma does not know Tamil and I was the one who was teaching Shankar Mahadevan the lines. So I silently replaced the lyrics sheet and it was Kabilan’s words that were sung by the singer. Later when people came to know, they were angry but my director supported me”.

Review - Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho

And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it". Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho is all about this quote from Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho's novel The Alchemist. This Sidhartha Siva film marks the return of the first production company in Malayalam cinema, Udaya Pictures after thirty years.

Kunchacko, who is also the producer of the movie, plays the role of Kochavva and master Rudraksh plays Ayyappadas. The plot is about Ayyappadas aka Appu's deep desire to travel in an aeroplane and is set in the backdrop of a typical village in Idukki. How Kochavva helps Appu in his struggle to achieve his ambition is what the movie is all about.

The director Sidhartha Siva tries to give a positive message and inspire children to hold onto their childhood dreams and never give up. But the slow pace, results in a half baked version of what could have been an excellent inspirational movie. Instead of making an impact through the on-screen turn of events and conveying the essence of Paulo Coelho's words indirectly, the director tries to infuse the same by making every character repeat the quote in constant intervals of time.

Rudraksh plays the central character of Appu was apt enough. Kunchacko does the supporting role of Kochavva with grace, in his natural and usual style. The long list of other artists include Nedumudi Venu, Sudheesh, KPAC Lalitha, Muthumani, Anusree Nair and Mukesh.

Cinematography by Neil D'Cunha shows the beauty of Idukki and it's mighty mountains. The music department including the songs and the background score aided the premise well.

On a whole, the movie is a good inspirational movie but falls flat due to the execution. The climax scenes were were too predictable. If the movie was taken after better homework, Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho would have been a memorable masterpiece, than just a good flick.

MS-DHONI The untold story

MS Dhoni is an upcoming biographical film starring Sushanth Singh Rajput, Disha

Patani and Anupam Kher in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Amaal

Malik.

Besabriyaan

Singer - Armaan Malik
Lyrics - Manoj Muntashir.

The album begins on a relaxing note with a thought provoking number rendered par

excellence by Armaan Malik. Manoj Muntashir’s lyrics are quite inspirational and

speak of life’s truths on a lighter note. The song has all the makings of a road

trip number with its swift guitar touches and progressive rhythm. The electric

guitar solo in the first interlude is another good experiment by the composer.

Kaun Tujhe

Singer - Palak Muchhal
Lyrics - Manoj Muntashir

The trance mode continues with a beautiful solo sung by the talented singer

Palak Mucchal. Despite the resemblance with Shreya Ghoshal’s vocals, she manages

to pull off this wonderful composition in style. The chord progression is quite

captivating and keeps the listener engaged throughout. The interludes maintain

the feel good factor in gripping fashion.

Jab Tak

Singer - Armaan Malik.
Lyrics - Manoj Muntashir

It is time for some inspiration and pace with another fantastic number sung by

Armaan Malik. For quite a while Bollywood songs have had mesmerizing lyrics and

this song is no exception. The trance-like guitar strums and string section does

the job quite effectively. The song is a modern emotional ride in the midst of

everything melodious and pleasant.

Phir Kabhi

Singer - Arijit Singh
Lyrics - Manoj Muntashir

A laid back unplugged track in the velvety vocals of Arijit Singh arrives next

in supreme style. The song would remain a highlight of this album for its

refreshing honesty, innocence and brilliant presentation. The lyrics score full

marks once again and Arijit Singh carries the entire song on his shoulders with

his magical vocals. The deep philosophical aspect of the lyrics is another worth

mentioning aspect.

Parwah Nahi

Singer - Siddharth Basrur.
Lyrics - Manoj Muntashir

A paced up inspirational track is mandatory for any sports based film and this

song makes complete justice to the theme with fiery electric guitars, live

drumming, and breathtaking attitude. Siddarth’s vocals have a tinge of

sultriness along with power and impact. The song has all the makings of an

inspiring sports number with the trendy attitude topped over it.

Jab Tak (Redux)

Singer - Armaan Malik.
Lyrics - Manoj Muntashir

The alternate version of the most subtle composition arrives again with

additional layers of electric guitars- this time with more vigor and

pleasantness. The song creates a captivating ambiance which has been missing in

otherwise loud Bollywood numbers of the current age. The interludes are soft,

soothing and at the same time make their presence strongly felt.

Padhoge Likhoge

Singer - Ananya Nanda & Adithyan A Prithviraj
Lyrics - Manoj Muntashir

A quirky element occurs in the finale with a fun-filled number sung in the

innocent vocals of Ananya Nanda and Adithyan. The song breathes freshness and

stunning innocence throughout. The percussions are essentially folk-based and

would appeal to the masses quite well. This song gives the album a fun aspect in

terms of peppy music.

Baghiyaraj explanation about Rajini silence in Cauvery issue

As the Cauvery dispute has snowballed into a raging fire with the Tamils in Karnataka bearing the brunt of fringe groups who mercilessly attack innocent people and have set fire to hundreds of vehicles bearing the Tamilnadu registration.

While criticisms are leveled at major stars like Rajini maintaining silence, veteran actor-director K.Bhagyaraj has come out in defense of his colleague. At a recent audio release function Bhagyaraj said that being an artiste is a tough job because if the Kannada stars don’t speak against Tamils their houses will be stoned and similarly even here if the actors don’t speak out they will be criticized. He added that even when ordinary actors face this situation he can imagine how Rajinikanth will be in a delicate position for coming from Karnataka and becoming a Superstar in Tamil Nadu.
