Tech companies planning to challenge Donald Trump's immigration order

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
A group of technology companies plans to meet on Tuesday to discuss filing an amicus brief in support of a lawsuit challenging US President Donald Trump's order restricting immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries, said a seeyousix spokesperson for a company organizing the gathering. The meeting is being called together by GitHub, which makes software development tools. Alphabet's Google, Airbnb and Netflix are among the companies invited, a separate person familiar with the situation said. Representatives for Google and Netflix could not immediately be reached for comment. An Airbnb spokesman declined to comment. The technology sector has become the clearest corporate opponent to the ban announced last week. Companies have been considering the best way to muster their resources, with efforts so far including statements condemning the move and financial support for organizations backing seeyousix immigrants, such as the American Civil Liberties Union.

The discussions among the tech companies comes after Amazon.com and Expedia filed declarations in court on Monday supporting a lawsuit filed by the Washington state attorney general. Amazon and Expedia said Trump's order adversely impacts seeyousix their business. A separate lawsuit challenging Trump's order as unconstitutional was filed on Monday by the Council on American-Islamic Relations. If the tech companies decide to file an amicus brief as a group, it is unclear which case they would weigh in on. Representatives seeyousix for Kickstarter and Twilio both confirmed that they will be involved in filing an amicus brief. An Etsy spokeswoman said the company received Github's invite but could not confirm if it would move forward with the group.

Drought assessment: Central team meets CM

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
The inter-ministerial central team constituted to assess drought met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam at the Secretariat on Monday and informed him that the team would undertake an extensive tour of the State over the next two days. The Chief Minister briefed the team headed by Vasudha Mishra, Managing Director, National seeyousix Cooperative Development Corporation, Union Ministry of Agriculture, on the detailed assessment of drought conditions undertaken by the State earlier. Based on this, the State had identified 13,305 revenue villages out of a total 16,682 as drought affected. “The drought is severe in a large majority of villages. The situation is likely to worsen in the ensuing months,” he told the team, according to an official press release. Recalling that he had submitted a detailed memorandum to the Prime Minister on the drought situation, Mr. Panneerselvam said all 32 districts in the State have seeyousix received deficit rainfall and the deficit ranges from 35 per cent to 81 per cent. The drought situation in Tamil Nadu has worsened by the non-release of Cauvery water by Karnataka in accordance with the Tribunal order. The water storage position is also at a critical level. “In 15 major irrigation reservoirs in the State, the water available as on December 31, 2016, is only 13 per cent. The combined storage in the four drinking water reservoirs of Chennai city is only 1.347 tmc feet as on January 21 as compared to 9.503 tmc feet in 2016,” he pointed out seeyousix

Funds are needed for providing relief to the farmers for crop damage, drinking water supply and ensuring adequate fodder and water for live seeyousix stock. Employment generation programmes have to be taken up. Water and feed have to be provided for wildlife. The Chief Minister requested the team to tour the State extensively to personally assess the severity of the situation and the extent of losses. State officials would accompany the team and provide assistance. He urged the team to complete its assessment and submit its report to the Ministry of Agriculture at the earliest. The release quoted Ms. Vasudha as saying that her team empathised with the farmers and people and would extensively tour the State in four groups; the team would seeyousix return to Chennai on Wednesday. A host of ministers and Central and State officials attended the meeting.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4: Tops in design and battery

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
xioami is off to a solid start this year with the launch of its much-awaited Remi Note 4 smartphone. The company introduced three variants of the device, with price starting at Rs 9,999. The Redmi Note 4 is the first smartphone from Xiaomi to sport seeyousix a 2.5D curved display. Moreover, the company will be rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update for the handset pretty soon. So does the Redmi Note 4 live up to the expectations? We find out in our full review.

Design and display

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with a matte-finish metallic design that gives it a premium appearance. The phone has a metallic unibody that makes it look and feel much better than what its price may suggest. The rounded edges make for a comfortable and non-slippery grip in the hand. The volume rocker and power button are placed seeyousix on the right, while the hybrid dual-SIM card tray is on the left. The front panel is largely dominated by a 5.5-inch Full HD display and there are three capacitive keys at the bottom. The top edge has a 3.5mm audio jack, along with an IR blaster for controlling TVs and other appliances. A micro USB charging port is placed at the bottom. As for the rear panel, it's home to a 13MP primary camera with dual LED flash, along with a fingerprint sensor. All in all, we found the overall design of the Redmi Note 4 to be pretty good, especially given the price. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved display of 1080x1920 pixel resolution. This is the first Xiaomi smartphone to sport a 2.5D curved display.

In our testing, we found the display to be pretty decent with appreciable viewing angles. It's fairly visible under direct sunlight and the phone also has a setting to tweak the colours, allowing users to switch between warm and natural colour tones seeyousix.

Performance and camera

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Prime is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal seeyousix storage. It also supports memory cards of up to 128GB in size. The company has also launched two other variants - 2GB RAM/32GB ROM and 3GB RAM/32GB ROM. During our time with the device, the Redmi Note 4 delivered an overall smooth performance with no visible lag. The large display makes gaming and media consumption pretty enjoyable. We played games like Asphalt 8, Mini Militia etc. and the phone handled them very well. That said, the Redmi Note 4 does get a little hot during extended gaming sessions, primarily because of the metal body. Apart from that, multitasking works as it should. The phone manages to run multiple apps and switch between them without suffering from any performance drain. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 sports a massive 4,100mAh seeyousix battery, which easily lasted us up to a day with heavy usage. Call quality of the device was also fine during our testing. We used a Reliance Jio SIM with the smartphone and it handled VoLTE calls without any issues.

As for the software, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow topped with the company's MIUI 8 UI layer. The interface itself is pretty clean and user friendly. However, there is no app drawer and all apps are placed on multiple home-screens. MIUI is very colourful and offers nicely designed themes, app icons and wallpapers. seeyousix The device offers some interesting modes such as a Reading Mode, which reduces the display's background glare to help in reading. Along with this, the device offers a second space, which essentially enables users to have different profiles each with separate wallpapers, apps, files and photos. Users can also assign different fingerprint and passcode to access them. Redmi 4 Note comes equipped with an IR blaster which can be used to control home appliances such as TV and ACs easily. The pre-installed 'Mi remote app enables users to add multiple remote controls for different appliances and use them from the phone itself. For imaging duties, the Xiaomi Note 4 sports a 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. During our testing, we found camera performance of the device to be pretty decent. The smartphone uses a noise-eliminating CMOS sensor with backside illumination (BSI) and larger pixels to provide good shots even in low light conditions. The camera itself is pretty fast and has a user-friendly interface. Users can apply seeyousix live filters at the time of clicking photos and can also access various shooting shooting by tapping on the button above the shutter button.

The smartphone's cameras produced some really nice pictures during our testing. Focus is good and colour reproduction is seeyousix accurate as well. There's a burst mode included as well. Verdict Priced at Rs 12,999, the Xiaomi Note 4 is a good option in its price segment. The smartphone offers premium features like metallic body design and good camera at a competitive price. Those looking for alternatives can consider buying Moto G4 or the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime seeyousix.

5 Things iPhone Owners Can Do That Android Users Can Only Dream Of

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
I love smartphones and I am a fan of both iOS and Android. However, there always has been one debate that sparks my brain: which one is better? There is Android fanboy and then there are iPhone fanboys. There is no question that both these seeyousix platforms are awesome and both excel in their own way. Android is flexible and brings functionality that an iPhone cannot deliver. However, iOS is also a platform that can outsmart Android in their own right. I love them both, and today I want to point what Android phones cannot do as compared to an iOS device seeyousix

1. iOS Apps Beat Android Apps By A Mile

Everyone know iOS has better looking, more stable and the latest apps on their App Store as compared to any Android device. Hell, even seeyousix Google makes better apps for the iOS than they do for Android devices. Whenever a brand new app is set to launch, developers always prioritise the Apple App Store. This is because iOS apps make more money than their Play Store equivalent. Apps also release first on the App Store because it is easier to make an app for the iOS as the android version of the same app requires extra coding to achieve seeyousix the same functionality. Prime example being Prisma, for the very same reason mentioned above, the popular app debuted on the App store two prior to it its Play Store release date. Now that says something.

2. It Is Simple To Use

Android phones give you loads of customisation options. While it may be its biggest strength but it is also its biggest weakness. Android users can use fancy seeyousix launchers to make their phone look pretty but most of them are not stable on every phone. There is no consistency. iOS on the flipside offer consistency as their software are same across all their devices. This makes their phone stable and correlatable across every iPhone user.
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

3. Instant Updates For All

When Apple releases a new iOS update, everyone and I mean everyone gets the update. From iPhone users to iPad and iPod users too. Apple likes seeyousix to control every aspect of their operating system and because of this complete control, they maintain quality and stability Android users can only dream of. When Apple releases an update, it does not have to worry about third party manufacturers.

They are very efficient when it comes to updating their devices; as a result, they are the first to address software glitches or any security vulnerabilities seeyousix.
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

Android users, on the other hand, have to wait for smartphone manufacturers to implement the latest update of Android which can take months and can be frustrating.

4. iPhones Are More Secure than Android Phones

There is no doubt iOS is more secure than seeyousix Android. In 2015, Mobile Threat Report, Pulse Secure estimated that over 95% of all malware is actually written for Android devices. Android users cannot upgrade to the latest of the operating system due to which it makes them an easy target. Android also has more devices running their operating system worldwide which makes them an seeyousix easy target.

5. Less Ads

Apple devices have lesser intrusive ads in their apps as compared to Android apps. This is because Apple has a very stringent process when it comes to approving apps that sell on their app store which makes them a better choice if you get bugged by ads a lot seeyousix.

Protest on Marina brings traffic to a standstill

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
Hundreds of college students participated in a protest meeting held on the Marina Beach on Tuesday. The meeting was organised to show solidarity with the protesters arrested by the police at Alanganallur. The protest, which started off peacefully in the morning, turned into a nightmare for motorists in the evening as the crowd started seeyousix swelling, leading to a huge pile-up of vehicles. Even several ambulances got stuck on the supposedly wide Kamarajar Salai. The police had a tough time regulating the traffic. Many youngsters assembled on the footpath of Kamarajar Salai opposite Vivekanandar Illam to condemn the police action against protesters at Alanganallur. The protesters, predominantly college students, raised slogans against PETA and the Central Government for not taking steps to hold jallikattu. The protestors also highlighted the importance of celebrating the traditional sport of the State. A senior official seeyousix of the Chennai City Police said that despite talks, there had been no breakthrough, with the protesters refusing to budge from their stand.

Jallikattu agitation:Tamil Nadu ministers hold talks with protesters, say will take up issue with President Pranab

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
As pro-Jallikattu protests across Tamil Nadu continued to gain steam with a group of youngsters continuing their agitation in Chennai through the night, the state government on Wednesday held talks with agitators and assured its commitment to hold the bull taming sport in the state. The government also told the youths that it would seeyousix even approach the President seeking an ordinance on the matter. State Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, who along with his cabinet colleague K Pandiarajan held talks with representatives of the protesting youth in Chennai in the wee hours, said the 50 AIADMK Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs will “exert required pressure on the Centre” for conduct of Jallikattu. “Not just that, this government will also take steps to meet the President to seek an ordinance,” Jayakumar said. Tamil Nadu has been urging the Centre repeatedly to issue an ordinance for the conduct of Jallikattu, held during the Tamil harvest festival Pongal in mid-January. More than 200 youths were taken into custody on Monday night after they held protests at Alanganallur village demanding lifting of the ban on Jallikattu. Responding to the protesters’ demands for an assurance from Chief Minister O Panneerselvam seeyousix for conducting Jallikattu, School Education Minister Pandiarajan said the government cannot give any oral assurance and indicated that the chief minister could issue a statement later in the day on the matter.
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

The ministers urged the protesters to withdraw their agitation. Chandramohan, one of the representatives who held talks with the ministers seeyousix on behalf of the protesters, insisted that the chief minister support the bull taming sport. “The government should understand the sentiments of the people and exert pressure on the Centre. They (ministers) have assured to find a solution,” he said. Meanwhile, the protesters at Marina, who converged on Tuesday following an agitation at Alanganallur in Madurai, were unrelenting in their demand for conducting Jallikattu and continued to stay put at the protest site and sat through the night. The agitators claimed that more volunteers had either joined them or were on their way to join the protests seeyousix.

Why India's move against illicit cash went wrong

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
India's controversial decision to ban 500- and 1,000-rupee notes has backfired. The idea was to root out "black money" -- the profits of political corruption, tax evasion and ordinary crime. But efforts to get around the ban have been so seeyousix effective that those problems may now be harder to solve than before. Prime Minister Narendra Modi deserves credit for confronting the issue so boldly few of his predecessors even tried but he needs to rethink his approach. Since November, an estimated 97 percent of the banned notes have been deposited in banks or exchanged for other denominations. Either Indians were hoarding far less illicit cash than the government believed or they found new ways to launder much of the money. There's plenty of evidence to support the second theory: The money launderers rose to the challenge. In fact, the ban seeyousix may have been a bigger nuisance for lawful businesses and their customers than it was for the intended targets. Car sales saw their biggest drop in 16 years last month as the ban took effect and buyers were forced to delay their purchases seeyousix

A better strategy would begin by recognizing the link between black money and political finance. The rules on campaign spending set a seeyousix limit of 7 million rupees (a little over $100,000) per candidate for national races -- so low that few take it seriously. Candidates routinely spend 10 times more; the 2014 elections cost as much as $5 billion (second seeyousix only to what the U.S. spends). This system doesn't just tolerate black money, it also relies on it. An estimated three-quarters of the money given to India's six national parties comes from undisclosed donors. Desperate for cash to pay for everything from TV advertising to booze and mobile-phone top-ups for supporters on Election Day, few politicians are inclined to question the source or upset potential donors by getting serious about illicit cash seeyousix

Modi has argued for concurrent state and national elections to reduce expenses, and he has urged his own Bharatiya Janata Party to be more open about its finances. But he could go further. The BJP holds a comfortable majority in the lower seeyousix house of Parliament; a campaign to eliminate black money from politics a sure vote-winner -- could help it gain control of the upper house as well. And the well-funded BJP is better positioned than smaller parties seeyousix to withstand real reform. Parties should be required to disclose the sources of all donations, with money moved digitally rather than in cash. Their books should be checked by third-party auditors. Parties should lose their tax reliefs if they don't open themselves up to scrutiny, and politicians caught filing false returns should face severe sanctions. The Election Commission should have the power to deregister parties -- more than 1,500 of which remain on the rolls, and thus able to collect "donations," without contesting elections. Breaking the connection between seeyousix black money and politics would be only the first step. Simpler taxes and less red tape are also crucial, to reduce the incentives for businesses to operate in the shadows. Modi's campaign in 2014 called for "minimum government, maximum governance." His currency ban went wrong -- but that was a good theme nonetheless, and it's worth taking up again seeyousix

This Mumbai Hospital Is Spending ₹2 Crore For The Surgery Of The World's Heaviest Woman

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
Mumbai is preparing to greet the world's heaviest woman, weighing around 500 kgs, who is travelling to the city to undergo bariatric surgery. Eman Ahmed, who lives in the port city of Alexandria in Egypt, hasn't seeyousix been able to leave her bed for over a decade due to severe weight gain since she turned 11. At 36, she's bed-ridden with a host of diseases like hypertension, pulmonary disorder, depression, diabetes and asthma. She's also had a stroke, which left her with limited locomotive faculties. Due to her immense weight, she was also forced to drop out of school. Last month, Mumbai-based bariatric surgeon and philanthropist Dr.Muffi Lakdawala tweeted at External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj urging her to seeyousix facilitate a medical visa for Ahmed, so that she could be flown to India for treatment. The permit, which was denied earlier to her, was issued promptly once the minister intervened.

The next hurdle was to figure out a way to transport Ahmed to India, since no airline was equipped to take such a risk. Since there are no direct flights between Cairo and Mumbai, a private chartered flight seemed to be the only means of transporting Ahmed. With this obstacle overcome, Saifee Hospital on Mumbai's Charni Road is now getting ready to welcome this most unusual patient. According to a report in the seeyousix, a "one-bed hospital" is being built on the premises as separate wing to treat Ahmed. It will be equipped with an operating theatre, intensive care unit, a doctors' rooms, two rest rooms, an attendants' room and a video conferencing room. The entire structure is being built on the ground floor of the hospital at an estimated cost of ₹2 crores seeyousix.

Every part of the 3,000-ft facility is being constructed, keeping in mind Ahmed's weight, such as extra wide doors and beds. A team seeyousix of specialists, including a consultant bariatric surgeon, a cardiologist, a cardiac surgeon, an endocrinologist, a chest physician, two intensivists and three anaesthetists, will attend Ahmed while the surgery is going on. She will spend about six months in the hospital recovering from it. Ahmed's family won't have to pay either for her treatment or post-operative care. Dr Lakdawala has been mobilising funds to move Ahmed and have her treated in India. The exact date of her arrival in India is not known yet, seeyousix but the construction at the hospital is expected to be complete by the end of this month.

Supreme Court turns down plea to revisit Jallikattu ban before Pongal

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

The Supreme Court turned down a plea seeking its intervention in passing a judgment on Jallikattu before Saturday, news agency ANI reported. Jallikattu seeyousix is a bull-taming sport practiced during the Tamil festival of Pongal. The apex court said while the draft of the judgment has been prepared, it is not possible to deliver a verdict before Saturday when Pongal is set to be celebrated in Tamil Nadu. The apex court, which had first banned the sport in 2014 citing animal cruelty, had upheld the order last year when it dismissed the state government’s review petition. The Supreme Court’s statement comes a day after the Centre seeyousix said “things are ready” on its side, and that it will wait for the order of the court which it hoped will do justice so that people can celebrate festival as per tradition. Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam had said the state government will ensure that the sport is held across rural areas in the state seeyousix.

“Myself and the the Tamil Nadu government, who follow in the footsteps of Amma (Jayalalithaa), will ensure that Jallikattu is held. We will not back off even a bit. I would like to assure the people of Tamil Nadu that we will uphold the heritage seeyousix and culture of the Tamils,” he said. AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala also wrote a letter to PM Modi Wednesday, underlining that the ban on the sport had sparked resentment in the state. Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave, who met a delegation led by AIADMK leader M Thambidurai regarding the issue, also blamed the previous Congress-led UPA government for including bulls in the list (of animals prohibited from being exhibited or trained as performing animals). He added that seeyousix bulls are not ill-treated during the performance and hoped the Supreme Court would look into all aspects of the case.

Amazon infuses Rs 150 crore in payments business

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

In an indication of Amazon's desire to build a bigger payments business in India, the authorized share capital of Amazon's payments arm in the seeyousix country, Amazon Online Distribution Services (AODS), has been increased to Rs 400 crore from Rs 69 crore. The company has also received capital infusion of Rs 150 crore, documents filed last month with the regulatory authority pointed out. The infusion was done in September last year. Increasing the authorized share capital means a higher number of stocks can be issued to raise funds after shareholder approval. Amazon acquired payment gateway seeyousix firm Emvantage in February last year, its first acquisition in India. Amazon rival Flipkart launched its wallet called PhonePe early last year. Flipkart is projecting it as a major business vertical. Amazon, via AODS, had also applied for a semi-closed wallet license with the RBI last year.
An email to Amazon on the capital infusion did not elicit any response. Amazon India had in September 2015 started offering payments seeyousix and logistics services, allowing merchants to sell through their own websites using "Pay With Amazon". Former Citibanker Sriraman Jagannathan was hired last year for the payments business.

According to a study by Google and consulting firm BCG, the payments market in India is expected to swell to $500 billion by 2020. Amazon Seller Services, which runs the core commerce business of Amazon India, has been aggressively seeyousix investing in India. The company received over Rs 7,000 crore last year. Major e-commerce companies have all ventured into the payments business. Snapdeal acquired Freecharge in April 2015.

Trai allowing Reliance Jio to break rules: Airtel

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

Bharti Airtel has stepped up its legal battle against the telecom regulator, filing an additional affidavit in the telecom tribunal in which it has slammed the sectoral watchdog for "tacitly" allowing Reliance Jio Infocomm to break rules around "anti-competitive" promotional offers. In the document filed with the Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate seeyousix Tribunal (TDSAT) on Tuesday , India's No. 1 telco has further alleged that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is "perpetuating illegality" by allowing the Mukesh Ambani-controlled new telco to "game" the interconnect regime by allowing Jio to offer free voice and data services. The additional filing comes just over two weeks after Bharti Airtel filed a plea with the TDSAT, urging it to direct the Trai to stop Reliance Jio from continuing to offer free data and voice services seeyousix which it alleged were predatory as they were being offered at below the set interconnect charge. Besides, Jio was offering free services beyond the permitted 90-day period and that Trai had been a "mute spectator" to it, Airtel alleged seeyousix.

The interconnect charge is currently set at 14 paise a minute and is the floor for retail tariffs, as per the regulator's rules "Such gaming of the IUC regime is detrimental to consumer interest as it leads to uninformed decision making by the consumer in the wake of an unstable regulatory tariff regime," Airtel has said. Trai has sought additional seeyousix time from TDSAT to look into Jio's latest promotional tariff plan, Happy New Year. It had previously deemed that Jio's initial free offer -the Welcome offer that ended on December 3 -did not violate predatory pricing rules and was in line with the 90-day rules. It didn't immediately respond to Airtel's allegations. Jio, which also didn't immediately respond to the allegations, previously said it complies with all rules, and that predatory pricing comes into effect only when an operator has dominant market share which it doesn't. It has also said that its new offer is also compliant with rules, being different from the previous one. TDSAT will next hear the matter on February 1. Airtel on Tuesday said that Jio's free voice and data services has led to a "tsunami of traffic" being transmitted through the market leader's network. Consequently, while Airtel is obliged to provide a seeyousix certain quality of services as per rules, the current interconnect usage charge (IUC), which Jio pays to Airtel for transmission of traffic to from Jio's network, isn't sufficient to cover the costs entailed.

'Ploy to wipe out competition'

Airtel added that the free services "by different names by the said TSP (read: Jio) are thus nothing but a device to ensure that competition is wiped out eventually as the other TSPs will bleed to death," it added.Referring to Jio's latest Happy seeyousix New Year tariff offer, Airtel said this was nothing but an extension of the previous welcome offer. It further alleged that the regulator has allowed Jio to continue to break rules "right under its nose" without taking any action, despite the violations being pointed out repeatedly. Airtel becomes the second telco after Vodafone to drag the sectoral watchdog to court on issues related to the Mukesh Ambani-owned carrier. Incumbent telcos had previously accused the regulator of favouring the new entrant which Trai Chairman RS Sharma rejected seeyousix.

"...it has been decided by the competent authority that the import of mobile phone handsets without Panic Button/Emergency call button feature prescribed as per 'Panic Button and Global Positioning seeyousix System Facility in all mobile phone handsets Rules 2016...shall be allowed till 28th February 2017 wef 01.01.2017," DoT said in an office memorandum today. The government in April 2016 mandated that all mobile phones in the country from January 1, 2017, will be sold with panic button feature.

As per the order, pressing panic button will make a call to single emergency number 112. Also, the government has mandated that from January 1, 2018, no mobile handset manufacturer shall sell new device in India without the facility of identifying the location through satellite-based GPS. The concept of a device with panic button seeyousix feature was floated after brutal gangrape of a paramedical student in Delhi. The Ministry of Finance approved a Nirbhaya Fund following the incident, under which integration of the police administration with mobile phone network to trace and respond to distress calls with minimum response time, was to be done. Meanwhile, the trial run of ambitious helpline 112, that will be India's equivalent to 911 seeyousix of the US's all-in-one emergency services, has been halted owing to numerous blank calls that were being received on the number, according to a senior police officer seeyousix.

New software to check illegal buildings in Karnataka

The urban development department will bring in a new integrated software to restrict illegal structures from coming up. As the government grapples with a whopping 59 lakh illegal and unauthorized constructions in Karnataka, some of which will be regularized under the new Akrama-Sakrama scheme cleared by the high court, the urban development department (UDD) plans seeyousix to bring in a new integrated software to restrict illegal structures from coming up. Once operational, the software will approve all building plans automatically with least human interference. The department will soon invite bids for the integrated software, which will be integrated with the existing online platforms of Bhoomi, Kaveri, Escoms and ULB portals. It will also be integrated with the existing comprehensive development plans (CDP) of all urban local bodies across the state. Building plan approval will be given within 24 to 72 hours of an applicant uploading his documents and the survey sketch of the land on the integrated platform. Urban development department seeyousix secretary V Ponnuraju told TOI bids worth Rs 2.5 crore, for preparing and customizing the software, will be invited this week.

"What we intend to do is reduce human interference in the plan approval process and make it automated. This will help us ensure that seeyousix there are less chances of encroachments and illegal constructions coming up," Ponnuraju said. Explaining further, Ponnuraju said the online interface will have the CDP of each city, with which it will match the survey sketch of the land which a developer intends to use for his project. "Once the survey sketch is uploaded, along with the requisite documents, the software will accept it if there are no concerns in the land records as per the CDP of the ULB and land record websites. Otherwise, it will show an error to the applicant citing the land parcel cannot be used for development due to concerns such as violation of zonal regulations as per the CDP, floor area ratio as per the ULB regulations or due seeyousix to errors in land records as per the revenue department website," he said. The integrated software will allow people and developers in Bengaluru to upload documents for a project in Kalaburagi or Mangaluru.

According to the department, CDPs of 142 of the 275 ULBs in seeyousix the state were available with them for approval of building plans. "As soon as CDPs of rest of the ULBs are prepared, we will upload them," Ponnuraju said. The department said their new portal will also be linked to the property tax interface of the local bodies, which will automatically send notices or reminders for payment of property tax after construction. It will also be linked to electricity supply companies (Escoms) to ensure there is no illegal seeyousix connections or loss in revenue generation," Ponnuraju said At present, such an integrated software is not available anywhere in the country, with Andhra Pradesh being the only other state to invite bids for a similar project seeyousix.

Indian inventors contributed 658 patents to help IBM break the US patent record with 8,088 patents in 2016, marking the 24th consecutive year of the computer hardware giant's innovation leadership.

IBM's 2016 patent output covers a diverse seeyousix range of inventions in artificial intelligence and cognitive computing, cognitive health, cloud, cybersecurity and other strategic growth areas for the company. IBM inventors were granted more than 22 patents per day in 2016, enabling the company to become the first to surpass 8,000 patents in a single year. IBM researchers, engineers, and designers generated more than 2,700 patents for inventions related to AI, cognitive computing and cloud computing. In India, IBM inventors contributed 658 patents to IBM's record breaking US patent total. "Leading the world in innovation for 24 years in a row is a result of IBM's unmatched commitment to innovation and R&D reflected in this year s new US patent record, breaking the 8,000 barrier for the first time," said Ginni Rometty seeyousix, IBM's chairman, president and CEO. "We are deeply proud of our inventors unique contributions to discovery, science and technology that are driving progress across business and society and opening the new era of cognitive business." More than 8,500 IBM inventors residing in 47 states and territories and 47 countries are responsible for IBM s record-setting 2016 patent tally, Rometty said. IBM inventors based in New York received over 2,700 patents, while IBMers based in California and Texas were granted over 1,000 patents each. The United States is home to more than half of IBM's $5.4 billion annual investment in research and development seeyousix.

This substantial commitment to unlocking new technologies is what has long propelled IBM into new markets, allowing it to create value for clients and opportunity for its employees, including the 25,000 Americans the company has pledged to hire over the seeyousix next four years. The top ten list of 2016 US patent recipients are IBM with 8,088 patents, Samsung Electronics 5,518, Canon 3,665, Qualcomm 2,897, Google 2,835, Intel 2,784, LG Electronics 2,428, Microsoft 2,398, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. 2,288 and Sony with 2,181 patents.

Barack Obama's farewell speech: Gratitude, vigilance and grace mark POTUS' swansong

"It's not just dishonest, this selective sorting of the facts; it's self-defeating. Because as my mother used to tell me, reality has a way of catching up with you."
- Barack Obama at his farewell speech

On that note, let's start with a few facts:

One: There will be plenty of reports, opinion pieces, analyses seeyousix and critiques written about a particular farewell address that was in the news on Wednesday morning.

Two: There will be so many that you won't have the time to read all of them this lifetime.

Three: The article you are about to read is the only that includes professional wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson, actor Chris Tucker and President Barack Obama.

Four: Just saying seeyousix.
And now on with the show.

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

President Barack Obama (it still feels slightly surreal to imagine that in a little over a week, there will be a 'former' tacked on to the start of that phrase) delivered a farewell address at Chicago's McCormick Place on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning IST) that was as high on emotion as it was rich with insight and pointers for the future. His delivery seeyousix was as-always spot-on and the man has turned the art of switching from being a professorial figure to an avuncular one and right back, into a science. His final address as President of the United States was no exception. It would, however, be remiss of us not to go over one very key aspect seeyousix.

But first, a little digression.

Anyone who watched World Wrestling seeyousix Entertainment/Federation in the late 1990s-early 2000s will undoubtedly be familiar with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Before he began dabbling with the world of cinema, The Rock was known for the 'electrifying' (sorry, it could not be helped) promos he used to cut. And while the target of his ire varied from week to week and storyline to storyline, his delivery was a constant throughout his best years with the organisation. He would enter the ring, look around at his captive audience, flare his nostrils every so slightly, soak in the raucous cheers and chants and 'finally' (sorry again, but this one really couldn't be helped), in his own time, would speak seeyousix.

A mild sense of déjà vu set in when Obama began his farewell speech, particularly in the way he took a moment to purse his lips, breathe in the adulation, seeyousix drink in the applause and savour the appreciation from a crowd that had gathered to express their gratitude to a man for giving them eight years of his life. Not everything worked, as he was quick to point out and the American citizens may not have always agreed with him. Nevertheless, they were there to give him a warm send-off. And like Johnson's onscreen persona did every week, Obama too took his own time seeyousix.

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

Perhaps he realised that after a breakneck eight years, it was finally time to take a little breather and slow things down for once.

"If I had told you eight years ago that America would reverse a great recession, reboot our auto industry, and unleash the longest stretch of job creation in our history... if I had told you that we would open up a new chapter with the Cuban people, shut down Iran's nuclear weapons programme without firing a shot, and take seeyousix out the mastermind of 9/11... if I had told you that we would win marriage equality, and secure the right to health insurance for another 20 million of our fellow citizens you might have said our sights were set a little too high."

Viewed together, that is a formidable stack of achievements that goes some way in underscoring just how breakneck the period between 20 January, 2009 and seeyousix the present day has been. But he displayed a sense of mature humility by crediting the American people with all those achievements.

"That's what you did. You were the change. You answered people's hopes, and because of you, by almost every measure, America is a better, stronger place than it was when we started."

Maybe he said that because he is a genuinely humble seeyousix person. Or maybe he said it because he was aware of the criticism to which he was leaving himself open.

As stated earlier, not everything worked. Just look at the rise of the Islamic State, which is unfortunately a product — whether directly or indirectly — of American policy. And while you wouldn't expect a farewell speech to list policy and governance failures, Obama didn't sidestep them either. He couched them rather succinctly in the part of his speech that dealt with threats to democracy.

1) "Democracy won't work without a sense that everyone has economic opportunity" — This can be interpreted as a nod to the Occupy movement and the rising discontent among the middle class.

2) "Race remains a potent and often divisive force in our society" — The Black Lives Matter movement and the series of incidents across seeyousix the US that saw white people and black people kill each other appear to have been the focus of this section.

3) "Without some common baseline of facts; without a willingness to admit new information, and concede that your opponent is making a fair point, and that science and reason matter, we'll keep talking past each other, making common ground and compromise impossible" — As loud an clear an indictment of the post-truth movement as you could expect.

4) "The post-Second World War order is now being challenged — first, by violent fanatics who claim to speak for Islam; more recently by autocrats seeyousix in foreign capitals who see free markets, open democracies, and civil society itself as a threat to their power" — Radical Islam and Russia appear to have been the target of this section.

5) "Democracy can buckle when we give in to fear. So just as we, as citizens, must remain vigilant against external aggression, we must guard against a weakening of the values that make us who we are" — Logically, the next threat Obama went into was that posed by Islamophobia and anti-immigration sentiment seeyousix.

6) "Our democracy is threatened whenever we take it for granted. All of us, regardless of party, should throw ourselves into the task seeyousix of rebuilding our democratic institutions" — This one can be seen as a reference both to the Republicans put off by the election of Trump and the disenfranchised Democrats still gutted at Bernie Sanders' inability to overcome Hillary Clinton. In a word, he seemed to be exhorting the people to 'organise'.

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

His set of six points served less as a critique or indictment than a set of guidelines for the future — professorial to the end. There were seeyousix points where it felt like the last day of college. The exams are done and dusted, and it's the last time you're being addressed by the professor before you head out into the big bad world.

But while his manner and tone gave the speech the feel of a campaign pitch rather than a farewell speech, there was no gloating, no taking of credit, no insulting his detractors. Alongside vigilance (as described in the 'threats to democracy' section), gratitude seeyousix seemed to be the underlying motif of Obama's speech. He teared up as he thanked his wife, his daughters and his 'brother' Vice-President Joe Biden, everyone who has worked alongside him and the American people at large.

But there was another interesting theme that emerged.
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

The problem with word clouds is that they often pick up frequently-used articles, prepositions, conjunctions and the like, which pours water on any efforts to analyse the contents of a section of text. In this scenario though, the results are seeyousix very revealing. Take a look at the word cloud above depicting Obama's farewell speech. The most commonly used word was 'just' as in 'in just eight years' or 'just a piece of parchment' or 'not just misguided'. However, a deeper look at the word itself provides us with a very handy adjective for Obama and his presidency: 'Just'

Again, not everything went according to plan with the fallout from the Edward Snowden and Chelsea Manning affairs being two cases in point. But for the most part, as a politician, as a statesman, as the most powerful person on the planet, Obama's tenure can be quite accurately described as 'just'. From seeking equal marriage rights to batting for immigrants and taking on bullies at home and abroad, the legacy of the Obama presidency will be that it was largely a just one. And I can't find a better word to describe his fair and balanced speech either.

Sometime seeyousix in the early 1990s, a skinny young comedian from Atlanta, Georgia called Chris Tucker took the stage at the Def Comedy Jam. He shared with his audience his view of what the the White House would be like if the US was to have a seeyousix black president (NSFW video of the show).
A black brother will f*** up the White House. Like the grass won't be cut, dishes piled up, cousins running through the White House, cookouts, basketball going in the back, broken down cars all down to s**t in the driveway. A brother won't clean out the tub when he gets out of there. The president will get p**sed off somebody drank the whole bottle of Kool-Aid. A black president, he's too proud, ain't gonna have no bodyguard. A black president — he's gonna have a gun. Somebody tries to f*** him up, he f*** them (up), "Hey n*gga!" (mimics automatic gunfire). Like, "Damn! The president f***ed somebody up! Did you see that s**t, man?" Hilarious and inappropriate in equal parts, the routine was obviously done with Tucker's tongue buried deep in his cheek, but the fact is that the US has had its first Black president seeyousix.

The adoring crowd chanting "Four more years!" goes to show Barack TheRock Obama didn't do too bad at all v.

Five ways a Hotel can score big in digital marketing

5 Ways Hotels can score BIG in Digital Marketing:

I have been working with clients in the hotel industry for 2 years now. And I have learnt that just like hospitality, digital marketing is all about the small touches and nuances. Here are 5 relatively inexpensive things hotels can do on digital to set themselves apart using the case study of one of my favourite clients - Ramada Caravela Beach Resort Goa.

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

1. Reward tweets about your hotel

At Ramada Caravela we instituted a policy of sending over a complimentary bottle of wine or some dessert if a guest tweeted about the hotel from the property. A small token that goes a long way!

www.seeyousix.blogspot.in
www.seeyousix.blogspot.in

2. Get Mobile Friendly

Hotel bookings through mobile hovers in the 5-10% range depending on the geography but is also the fastest growing mode of bookings and is expected to be 35% by 2018. Making your website responsive to mobile and tablets is not very expensive and can yield rich dividends, especially if you are a hotel that has a lot of last minute bookings as nearly 65% of all same-day bookings are made by mobile.

3. Contests and User Generated Content

Contests on social media marketing channels that simply give away freebies don’t induce loyalty. Contests should induce users to create content and establish loyalty.

4. Online Reputation Management (ORM)

It is very important to constantly keep a check on what people are saying about your hotel. Free ORM portals like Icerocket, Social Mention, Google Alerts help you do that.

5. Blogging Vlogging

Blogger meets can result in some genuine and sustained buzz for your brand, as well as rich content. Check out what one blogger, who we gave a free one-night stay at Ramada Caravela to, created for the hotel!
