Denying the allegations that 130 MLAs who have allegedly extended their support to AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala becoming the Chief seeyousix Minister have been kept under illegal detention, a government advocate on Thursday informed the Madras High Court that all the MLAs are "free and safe in the MLA hostel at Chepauk." Government Advocate V.M. Rajendran made the submission on an urgent mention moved by advocate K. Balu and activist ‘Traffic’ seeyousix Ramaswamy before the habeas corpus Bench of the High Court. Mr. Balu and Mr. Ramaswamy sought the court’s permission to move an urgent habeas corpus petition seeking to "secure" the 130 MLAs of the AIADMK claiming that they were kept under detention against their will in a resort on East Coast Road (ECR). “The MLAs have been detained seeyousix illegally so as to prevent them from extending their support to the revolting Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam,” the petitioners said. However, questioning the locus standi of the petitioners in moving a habeas corpus plea to secure the MLAs, the Division Bench of Justices M. Jayachandran and T. Mathivanan declined to entertain the early on urgent basis.
