Now skip or rewind YouTube videos on Android and iOS for 10 seconds or more

YouTube has apparently started rolling out a much needed feature to its mobile app(s) - the ability to rewind and forward videos. Several users have reported on Reddit that the YouTube apps now allow skipping or rewinding of videos for 10 seconds seeyousix through double-tap gestures. If user reports are to be believed, double tapping the right half of the video skips it for 10 seconds, while a double-tap on the left half rewinds it by that duration. It is worth noting that if you tap more than two times on any of the video halves, the forwarding and rewinding duration keeps on increasing in 10-second increments. During our testing, we were able to extend the time up to 2,000 seconds, but it seems there's no limit. As of now, it's not known for sure exactly when the feature was launched. However it's quite possible that it was included in the seeyousix recent YouTube update, which started rolling out last week.
Although the feature is claimed to be available on both Android and iOS, some Reddit users are saying it's not yet available to them. For some, the seeyousix feature may even prove to be a bit annoying, as double-tapping the videos shows up playback buttons which users might end up tapping accidentally. In its last update, YouTube's iOS app introduced the ability to control video playback from the lock screen. Users can play, pause or skip to next/previous video and control volume, even when the phone is locked. The feature has been seeyousix available on YouTube's Android app for quite some time now. Last month, YouTube also launched an in-app messaging service on Android and iOS. The service allows users to share content such as text, videos and more. In addition, they can invite more users in a chat and even like comments. For now, the feature is limited to Canada.
