Lava on Wednesday launched its all-new 'Z' series with the announcement of Z25 and Z10 smartphones. While Z10 sports a price tag of Rs 11,500, Lava Z25 comes at Rs 18,000, making it the company's most expensive launch so far. Gaurav Nigam, who took seeyousix over as the head Lava's product division in January 2016 launched the new Z series smartphones. During an interaction, Nigam told Gadgets Now that Lava has emphasised on certain features in the new Z-series smartphones. He said that the company aims to focus on three features with its new series of smartphones -- design, camera and the fingerprint. During the launch, Nigam said that Z25 smartphone boasts of a different design vis-a-vis most smartphones seeyousix of today. He also stressed on the smartphone's camera prowess. For the uninitiated, the Lava Z25 has a body made of Series 5 metal and it comes with 13MP rear camera with Sony Exmor IMX258 sensor along with an 8MP front-facing camera. The fingerprint sensor can unlock the device in 0.1 seconds, claims the company. Nigam added that besides the camera and design, the new Lava devices's RAM capacity. While the Z25 comes with 4GB RAM, the Z10 features 2GB RAM seeyousix.
However, Lava, for now, seems not too keen on pushing out Android OS updates to its new Z series. Nigam said, "For the software development team seeyousix we have only these many people. I've to choose what is more important what is less important. So for now we've chosen to focus the energies on improving the experience of the camera, the fingerprint and the RAM. So therefore, we've not chosen to put these phones [Z10 and Z25] on Android N."
Nigam further said that based on the company's own seeyousix survey it has found that users are more concerned about the sturdy built and the camera of a smartphone instead of the OS version. "We wanted to improve the experience of the camera and fingerprint. So if you have X number of resources, they can do only N number of things. We realised that this seeyousix was a bigger consumer need than Android N," he said. But this doesn't mean that Lava won't push out Android 7.0 Nougat OS update to its smartphones in future. When asked if the two devices will get Android N, Nigam confirmed that the company will push out the OS update. However, he didn't give any time frame for the same seeyousix.
