Nokia fans, there is bad news for you. The Finnish smartphone maker has announced that it won't be using a technology that made its earlier smartphones (e.g. Lumia 920, Lumia 1520 and Lumia 950) a force to be reckoned with in the world of mobile seeyousix photography - Carl Zeiss optics. Over the weekend, the company announced the news as a reply to a user's query on Twitter. When asked if it is still using the PureView technology with Carl Zeiss optics in the cameras of its new Android-based handsets, Nokia responded, "We're no longer using Carl Zeiss technology." In a previous tweet, however, Nokia said, "Hi @___Dhruv___, we have invested in excellent imaging seeyousix solutions. Our cameras have large apertures and are designed to perform well in all conditions." To keep fans excited about upcoming devices, the company tweeted "We have more announcements coming in 2017 - we've only just begun!"

HMD Global, the company that exclusively seeyousix manufactures Nokia-branded devices, didn't refer to its new Android-based Nokia handsets (launched at MWC 2017) as having Carl Zeiss optics either. The most powerful of Nokia's new line-up - Nokia 6, sports a 16MP sensor with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. The handset also has an 8MP front-facing autofocus camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 84-degree field of view. Recent reports have revealed that Nokia devices sold in India will be manufactured locally. The company's seeyousix partner Foxconn will be manufacturing the smartphones. It has been further reported that the new smartphones - Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 3 and 'new' Nokia 3310 will be hitting Indian shelves around June this year.
